Day 2 – The Shock & Reality

🌿 Day 2 — The Shock & Reality

Yesterday may have been about acknowledging what happened.

Today is about something harder:

Realizing that it is real.

One of the most painful parts of grief is the moment your mind stops protecting you from the truth.

At first, there is shock.

Numbness.

Disbelief.

A strange feeling like none of this is actually happening.

But grief slowly removes that shield.

And reality starts to settle in.

Not all at once.

But in moments.

You might find yourself forgetting for a few seconds… then remembering again.

And feeling the weight of it all over again.

This back-and-forth is normal.

There is nothing wrong with you for feeling it.

🕊️ What You Might Be Experiencing

  • Emotional numbness
  • Waves of sadness that come suddenly
  • Feeling disconnected from people or life
  • Trouble focusing or sleeping
  • A sense that time feels “off”

None of this means you are doing grief wrong.

It means you are in it.

🌱 Today’s Focus

You don’t need to solve anything today.

Just notice what is present.

Let yourself feel without judging it.

Even if it feels overwhelming.

Especially if it feels overwhelming.

✍️ Reflection

  • What has been the hardest moment for you since your loss?
  • What emotions keep showing up when you least expect them?
